104:159) Eric A. Hochman Date: 19-APR-94 2:55 I hope you all had fun making your own Zima, but now it's time to get back to the main subject of thiz item - YELLOW TRAINz. Oh fuck...I'm still doing it. How long do the effectz of this damn Zima lazt? Um, where was I? The end of Thursday night, when, despite valiant efforts, I failed to photograph a yellow train. I'm not one to give up easily, so the next night, there I was, back on the Upper West Side. It looked like I was in luck this time - there was a yellow train waiting right outside the station, on the express track; by now, I'd know that single headlight anywhere. It could only be a matter of minutes before it would come into the station, and I was ready for it. I waited. 10 minutes passed. A local came and went; the yellow train didn't move. 10 more minutes, and an express came in - ON THE EXPRESS TRACK. I suddenly had THE FEAR, for two reasons. First, it was clear that the yellow train KNEW I WAS THERE, so it wouldn't come into the station (and if you think I was going to walk out to the train, J PSYCH. NOW!!!!) Second, there are only two downtown tracks into 72nd St. The yellow train was on one of them. It never moved. Real trains arrived on both tracks. I'm not an expert in such things, but I suspect major physical laws were violated. Janet, where did you disappear to? I was going to buy you a Zima... The trip home was surprisingly uneventful, so I won't bore you with it. But before you go to sleep, I want to talk about POETIC LICENSE. Some folks think that means you should need a license to write poetry, which is true, but beside the point. Some of you think that I make all these posts up - that no one could see that many yellow trains and live. That's why tonight was a milestone in the tale of the yellow train - THERE WERE WITNESSES. After the Art Bar, Viadyer & Marion Davis walked with me to 14th St, and were there on the platform when a little yellow train (the token transporter with all the bars on the windows) went by. Now I must admit that it didn't stop or do anything unusual (just one supercilious honk as it passed me), but THEY SAW IT. The yellow train lives. Be afraid. - - - - - 104:160 ) Janet Tingey Date: 19-APR-94 22:42 I'm still here but I won't take another word seriously until you supply photo reference for the t-shirt. - - - - - .
