BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE AMERICAN INDIAN The Smithsonian's board of regents appointed the initial board of trustees for the new National Museum of the American Indian in June 1990. The 25 board members include Smithsonian Secretary I. Michael Heyman and Assistant Secretary for the Arts and Humanities Tom L. Freudenheim.
