       At a personal level, maybe using algo-driven & ad-supported social media seems fine. That's really what most media is. Radio & TV have always done this, deciding what comes next. Most streaming options will auto play something now too. Fine.The problem is at the collective level. A world where a few corporations have so much control over what everyone pays attention to is not a healthy society. It's bad for democracy. Breaking this cycle is why the #fediverse matters.        @ampache hello. wondering if you might know if there is something like an open stream protocol that would allow apps to play songs, albums or playlists from other sites? something that could work for #funkwhale but also others.basically is there already a way for us to have a decentralized Spotify? musicians with their own sites, users with their own graph of stuff they like or know about and competing apps that stream directly from their sites. #bandwagon maybe.anyway, thanks for reading.

       @fediversereport their central relay is a huge vulnerability in resisting authoritarianism compared to the fedi. I wish people knew this and therefore felt that being here (and helping it grow) was worth the extra effort.

       I wish for greater integration between reader apps (mine is @wallabag) and the fedi such that I could more easily boost her post ( by @_elena) instead of her article after I get around to TTS reading it.        When we call it #CultureWar, it then implies that our real enemy is those who are pushing the conflict. Wars are always manufactured. We've had different experiences and so see the world differently, but the natural response is empathy and trying to understand each other.Our fight is with those who try to make us distrust and hate each other. Who push division for attention and profit. That's who we must defeat together. The yellers on TV and alt media. The owners of the triggering algos.

       @apps the general user will only need a universal feed app for all formats, but I thought they'd be on servers based on locality. this might be better if we can prevent harassment.we'll also need dedicated fedi servers for news outlets, governments, corporations, video production studios etc. and reader/player apps that fully embrace our social graph. and a decentralized fiat protocol to facilitate payments to creators based on the time spent with their work. #PublicPatron

       @Mastodon this post is confusing but I think I completely agree with what it's trying to say. The fedi or #SocialWeb is the network. Mastodon is an important part of it. Not sure what term describes it best.
