       Hello fediverse and #SubduedSocial!  I'm Tom, recently retired from 30 years in IT, but new to social media. I'm afraid it'll be necessary to do a little liberal political ranting in the near future, but I'm also interested in bicycling (but I'm out of shape), cats and dogs, and science fiction. I'm in Bellingham, and pleased that @alan provides this cozy server for us!

       @debian Congratulations to the Debian project for 32 years of excellence, and thanks for your great work! I've been using Debian since version 5 "Lenny", and as my main desktop since ditching Windows in 2014. Freedom, respect, and stability - I've never looked back! ❤️🐧🍥

       @eff It's not the solution we want, but better than nothing is eyeglass lenses from Zenni Optical, which (with their optional ID Guard feature) filter infrared light and interfere with automated facial recognition. I'm not a shill, but I've bought two pairs now from Zenni and I'm happy with both, and they're very inexpensive. I don't know if anyone else might also offer similar lenses that block facial recognition.
