@Tutanota LibreWolf and Vivaldi. The latter has its own ad and tracker blocker built in that uses the same lists as uBO.

@Tutanota @theregister As found in the comments section of The Register recently in response to an article dealing with the same subject.Posted by user "xyz""...If a redneck in a Wisconsin wood, casting a vote, can control your IT strategy, you've got the wrong IT strategy..."Source article https://www.theregister.com/2025/06/06/ionos_dismisses_scalability_worries_interview/?td=keepreading

@Tutanota I have always struggled to understand that so many people who need a word processor no more sophisticated than WordPad, never use spreadsheets and know where to buy and how to use USB thumb drives to save and back up their files pay anything for Microsoft's online Office and storage services.Especially when recent outages at both Amazon and Azure show just how fragile cloud based systems are.

@Tutanota A simple solution.Ask Herre Hummelgaard to publish in a public internet space:a) every chat message that he has sent and received, b) every email he has sent and received c) every SMS/MMS that has crossed his phone.d) every post on any form of social media he has madeThat is basically what he wants to do to all of us with Chat Control."If you give me six lines written by the hand of the most honest of men, I will find something in them which will hang him."Cardinal Richelieu

@Tutanota When the dust settles over #chatcontrol and the EU commission's desire to drive a #digitalomnibus through our basic human rights, and it is clear that Tuta can still offer properly private email services then I will start subscribing.I don't see much point in me getting used to a service if it ceases to be free of state interference in a couple of years time.In the meantime, keep up the good work! I will do my best to help defeat both EU proposals.

@Tutanota I think they will stop adding partners before they reach 640k of them. After all, 640k should be enough for anybody. But, you have to remember that those data broker partners gather data to sell on to other companies. So you can argue that MS has many more "partners" if you count those that are twice, thrice or more times removed.

@Tutanota So if I understand correctly, under the current proposal, if I wish to continue to use say Signal or WhatsApp to have video chats with my life partner I will need to verify my age and expect to have any communications scanned by the service providers. But making a phone call to the same person from a dumb phone will not?Or does the EU proposal want to extend age verification and the voluntary scanning of communications to more traditional telephony systems as well?#chatcontrol

@Tutanota I have a 4 year old Android phone that has not had updates for a while now. I am not going to use that as a basis for a secure IM system such as Signal.I do not wish to buy a replacement for this phone. Neither Android nor iOS.I use Wire IM. I believe it to be secure. It has the great advantage over many IM systems in that you can register a personal account on Wire using just an email address. Then you can chat and call using a computer. Without needing a smartphone.
