       @pixelfed Great, especially regarding HEIC - which is what iPhones shoot by default. There have been rumours of Apple shifting to JPEG XL, which looks very promising - maybe you should look into that as well?

       @pixelfed It would’ve be very useful if I coould use Pixelfed for such a basic use case as…posting. I can’t, because if the media is too big, it silently (without throwing any error or warning) fails. Correct behaviour would be to let me have and option to allow the app to automatically resize, alert me about it when I post and let me choose to do the same or at least throw an error. Current state and is just an example of bad UX

       @dansup @pixelfed Hopefully the auto resize/recompress option. Does Pixelfed support JPEG-XL? That is supposed to help with reducing file size without recompressing, so a regular JPEG converted to XL would take less space?
