@_elena I've been on Twitter and moved to Mastodon entirely the moment Elon got "elected". I'm just gonna skip the BlueSky entirely because I already know its fate is the same as Twitter because investors are involved and they always fuck up everything. Mastodon has none of that and will just remain what it is. I'm okay with that as I just need unbiased social network without any Ai bullshit.

@Tutanota @edri Encryption ensures integrity of ANY communication. Literally whole internet is based on it. If you temper with it at any point, it's not secure anymore. There is no "good guys" in encryption that should have the keys to peek inside. It's just encryption from start to end uninterrupted. Literally the fundamental part of everything online, secure shopping, secure voting, secure communication, private or of business nature.

@gcluley I'm currently using NextDNS with logs in Switzerland. It also has block lists to filter ads and trackers.NextDNS also offers dns0.eu which is purely EU DNS resolver, but has no filtering at all which is a bit of a shame.

@Tutanota I've been using alternatives for over 20 years, starting with EasyOffice back in 2002 or so and soon migrated to OpenOffice. After that it was LibreOffice and OnlyOffice. Though I'm thinking of going back to LibreOffice because of OnlyOffice's Russian relations...

@eff @FastCompany If anything is from Meta it's inherently questionable at best. Stop using garbage from this sleazy company.

@libreoffice It would be nice if I could only install Writer and Spreadsheets and nothing else. I only need that yet installer installs bunch of crap like Impress, Math and Draw that I'll never need and there is no way to opt that out during install. Can you guys fix that up?

@libreoffice Yeah, well they are useless crap for me because I don't need them but your installer feels the need to install them anyway and shove them in 50 context menus all over the OS. But it seems you're more concerned with feelings of a software somehow than understanding the issue at hand. Btw, at no point I criticized people behind it, so cut that bs.

@libreoffice If so many components are shared, installer should just not expose them to user then if they are unchecked during install so they aren't dumped in all the context menus, new files menu, open with menu. I honestly don't care if all of it is still present in Program Files, I just don't want to see it all over menus. That's all. Installer used to offer individual components selection years ago iirc, but not anymore.

@libreoffice Can you like, for a second stop throwing volunteers under the bus in attempt to frame me like I'm attacking them? At no point I ever mentioned people working on it yet you keep bringing it up. Just improve the installer so I can exclude components I don't need, so it doesn't pollute my entire OS interface with unnecessary components. Apparently that's too much to ask...

@Tutanota They store data for 72 hours because that's how long it takes for them to train models on your data. Then they can delete it because they don't need it anymore.

@Tutanota @Mastodon @GrapheneOS @LineageOS Even when not using dedicated OS for privacy, just disable/remove Google crap, including "Google" app. Disabling that one blocks so many evil Google stuff including their stupid assistants on any brand of phone.

@Tutanota @jonah @chillybot It's weird that Swiss is going to kill off the only niche they were so great at so far. For what? To drive everyone away so their mass surveilance law becomes pointless when no one will want to run business from Switzerland...

@fsfe @EUCommission Even worse are apps that you uninstall, but instead of getting removed, they just revert to some old version. Like, why? If I want it uninstalled, REMOVE IT, not just replace with some older version. Google's apps are especially prone to doing this nonsense.

@mntmn Biggest cancer to laptops I've seen is the WLAN/Bluetooth module. It's next to impossible replacing it. It's either straight up incompatible or it's blocked in firmware. And Linux is ALWAYS having problems with stupid WLAN modules.

@Tutanota Done that. And learned idiots at PayPal restrict password length to only 20 characters. Who the fuck limits the upper limit to such a low value? What kind of shit backend are they running if it can't handle more than 20 characters?

@Tutanota Always visit your important webpages like banking and e-mail services through links obtained through reputable search engines and is best to have them bookmarked afterwards. If you get e-mail about your Citibank, visit the website from your bookmark, not from the received e-mail. If there is something important, it will be on actual Citibank webpage. If not, then it's not that important.
