@organicmaps I have always avoided regular Google Maps because Google can't be trusted.I always have all location services off. They only work well for roads and phone or tablet would need a passenger.I have voice only phone plan.I buy paper maps.I have a compass. My system works out of coverage and away from roads.I do have Openstreet map on Linux, but I compare found location with real paper map inc Irish OS.I also have a standalone BT GPS not used for 12 years.

@eff The USPTO is broken since 19th C.They have always tended to accept (more income than a rejection) and leave it to courts to invalidate (which costs the challenger a fortune. Cost too much to check for prior art, is it novel, is it obvious to anyone skilled in the art etc. They give patents a bad name. It's frightening it's going to be worse!Look at how much IBM & Apple spend on patent generation. See also Qualcomm.

@MichaelWhelan Thanks, I'd never seen that, as living in Ireland for many years the bookshops couldn't even import USA editions. This is the cover on my copyhttps://www.penguin.co.uk/books/328972/pegasus-in-flight-by-mccaffrey-anne/9780552163767Anne moved to Wicklow, which I used to know quite well, but we never met.Wicklow features in her "The Kilternan Legacy", and some Crystal Singer names are from the south of Dublin area.

@MichaelWhelan Pre-Raphaelites cheated with their "cos-play" paintings. Real people! And no surprise that some contemporary writing to them used engraved derivatives.

@eff Maybe $20 in USA?The Hotspot is about £80 on UK Amazon via 3rd party. Not available on Ireland or Germany Amazon. Is it even fully European compatible?I think it's reasonable to assume the "fake" Cell nodes can fully simulate any real operator and do a full interception on HTTPS etc. MITM attack. Possibly a decent VPN is safe, almost certainly nothing less. Many actual mobile operators don't run decent encyption, so HTTPS interception. They may figure out how to fool / foil Rayhunter.

@MicroSFF Indeed the French added Lancelot to the Arthurian stories that originated in Wales.Tristan and Isolde seems added by French via Brittany from Cornwall. It's the only old story I know with a dragon in Ireland, though there are giant serpents (river Barrow). They seem to be a Welsh thing. T.H. White has the Merlin living backwards. Not at all in pre-French legends.

@MicroSFF The pre-Raphaelites invented cos-play of the originals and fan-fic.Arthurian, Shakespeare, Tennyson etc.So IMO very apt for covers of fantasy novels.See examples 😆 https://www.corvidspress.com/fiction/otherworld-series/under-the-stone-of-destiny/
