@Tutanota @EUCommission Understand this: people do not want this and will do whatever it takes to stop it. Here's an example - Tuta is making it clear. And I'm telling you myself: if force has to be used - so be it. Privacy is not something we will give up without a fight.#ChatControl #FightChatControl #StopChatControl #Privacy

@Tutanota Does age verification really have to rely on face scans, document uploads, or other invasive methods? πŸ” Isn't there a way to do it that respects user privacy? πŸ›‘οΈI have an idea that - while it would need some adjustments - seems reasonable to me, especially when we're talking about such a sensitive topic. In my country, Poland, ID cards have an NFC chip πŸ“² that contains encrypted data, including the date of birth. Access to this data requires a PIN πŸ” that is set at the government office.Wouldn't it be possible to create an app that reads this data from the ID when first launched, and then requires the PIN each time to decrypt the date of birth? The app could communicate with the browser locally and simply send a yes or no answer βœ…βŒ about whether the user meets the required age - without revealing any personal data.Of course I know not every country has such ID cards, but if they truly care about protecting children πŸ‘Ά, they should first make sure to create proper, secure solutions - ones that respect human rights 🧭 and don't violate citizens' privacy. That's my opinion - but I'm open to other perspectives if there's something wrong with this approach πŸ’¬#Privacy #Freedom #AgeVerification #OnlineSafetyAct #Surveillance #HumanRights

@Tutanota 11 years! To be fair, I didn't learn it from your blog, but I guess it still counts πŸ˜…https://www.lpi.org/blog/2024/04/24/foss-privacy-and-innovation-meet-tuta-mail/

@Tutanota @fsfe So if I understand correctly, Google was forced to do it too? I remember when Apple had to do it, and I thought back then that it's a much bigger issue in the Android ecosystem. Anyway, good decision! :ablobcool:

@Tutanota And you know what's worst about all this, after delving even deeper into the subject? That it would de facto be the end of *all* privacy πŸš«πŸ” Because, in reality, this law assumes the scanning of everything sent from our device, not just messages, as is usually said. That's the worst part. That this law normally seems bad because it will scan our messages. But the truth is, this law is the devil because it will scan everything :demon:#ChatControl #FightChatControl #StopChatControl

For months now, whispers have turned into a roar :neocat_scream_angry: about a certain EU proposal. At first, it sounds like a noble cause - protecting children from harm online πŸ‘ΆπŸ›‘οΈ Who could argue with that? But this is no ordinary mission. This is the turning point πŸ”„ A moment where the digital realm risks falling into a shadow :ghosty: A plan that demands all our private conversations be scanned :eyes_happy: No suspicion. No crime. No reason. Just everyone. All the time ⏰Imagine a system powerful enough to scan every message, every image, every whisper - on every device, for every person πŸ“±πŸ’» It doesn't need physical access or a noisy presence. It runs silently in the background, all the time :ghosty:It was created to protect πŸ›‘οΈ But its effectiveness is uncertain, and privacy is seriously compromised πŸ”“ Instead of focusing on real threats, it treats everyone the same - as if risk came from simply being online 🌐A digital weapon built before anyone can understand its consequences ⚠️ Like a Death Star - not made of kyber, but of code :empire: Created in the name of safety, but capable of something far more dangerous ☠️Officially, this proposal is called CSAR (Child Sexual Abuse Regulation) πŸ“œ, but most of us know it as ChatControl :mail_smirk: And that's no accident - the latter name more accurately reflects what this system really is and the consequences it brings :eyes_happy:If passed, it will mark the end of private digital communication in the EU 🚫:signal: And if it happens here, it can happen anywhere 🌍 Because what is accepted in one democracy can quickly become the norm in others. Europe often sets the standards others follow πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί And the world is watching πŸ‘οΈThis proposal changes the rules βš–οΈ It weakens encryption πŸ”, the very foundation of secure communication. When encryption is weakened, every message becomes vulnerable to interception :hacked:, and privacy is no longer guaranteed. When privacy disappears, democracy crumbles with it πŸ›οΈβš οΈ The consequences do not end there - surveillance will become part of daily life :signal: :eyes_happy:, and control over our digital world will only grow stronger.I was born into a free internet 🌐 I want to die in one too πŸ—½This proposal breaks fundamental rights 🚨:- the right to private communication (Article 7) :signal:- the right to data protection (Article 8) πŸ”’- the presumption of innocence βš–οΈ- the principle of proportionality βš–οΈThis is not a debate over ideology πŸš«πŸ—―οΈ This is a matter of principle πŸ”₯To the @EUCommission: I know your intentions are good πŸ™ But history does not judge intentions. It judges consequences :blobcatgrimacing: You want to protect people πŸ›‘οΈ But you may end up building something that will be used to control them :neocat_devil:Don't build a machine you yourselves would fear :neocat_scream_scared: You will not be remembered for good intentions - but for what you leave behind πŸ‘£ Think about how it will affect us all. Choose security, not surveillance. 🚫:eyes_happy: This is your moment ⏳ Don't waste it.To everyone else: You don't have to be from Europe πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί to care :neocat_heart: When harmful laws pass without resistance - the impact is felt everywhere 🌎 We are citizens of one digital world 🌐 And in that world, staying silent comes at the highest cost 🀐Freedom does not die loudly. It disappears - quietly :ghosty: - unless we stop it :fist_paw:Visit fightchatcontrol.eu. Learn. Message your MEP. @Tutanota Why do I get the feeling that lately, in so many countries, new regulations are popping up with only one purpose - to erode privacy πŸ”“? It feels like a bad joke. I can't keep up anymore.I wish I could fight them all at once, put pressure everywhere 🌍, no matter where I live. But I don't have the time. I'm already drowning in an endless to-do list. Why couldn't the government set a different deadline? Why are they so determined to push this through? My mind can't wrap around it :blobcatweary: I just hope they come to their senses and never implement it πŸ™#Privacy #HumanRights #Switzerland #SwissPrivacy #EU #ChatControl #FightChatControl #UK #OnlineSafetyAct #AgeVerification #Surveillance #StopSurveillance
