Hello. I generally just go by Nazo online (the Kiyoubinbou is an extra bit I add to use more than four letters.) My primary interests in regards to this server would be Japanese music, but more specifically utaite covers of original music (particularly Vocaloid music) more so than Jpop (I do like some pop music.) I also have a lot of interest in videogames including quite a number from Japan. I am also interested in tech in general, particularly regarding computing.

On the subject of #Utaite who do covers of various #Vocaloid songs and the like, one of my classic favorites has always been #Hanatan If I have to pick one song to show as an example, I usually think of Palette (by Yuyoyuppe.) Few can match the range and power, plus she has vibrato down to a science.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Ay46hP7CjI

@kde Is this an official way to contact KDE developers without jumping through hoops? I just want to offer a minor thing I guess. I just got the update to KDE Plasma 6.3.0 and it seems I'm back to having monitor brightness issues. I think part of the problem is the system tries to set the monitor's brightness, which is often a bad idea on anything other than a laptop. I believe this should be an optional setting that can be turned off (and perhaps should be turned off by default even.)It's especially maddening because it goes back to 100% and sears my eyes every time my monitor turns off (screensaver/etc) but I also wonder if it may be related to another issue where the monitor's brightness seems to flicker up and down. (I have no settings enabled that should do this.)

@_elena @phanpy Honestly I don't even think it's that much more to explain. Yes, you have to pick a server, but the decision isn't really nearly as complex as people make it out to be. Beyond that you basically treat it just like those.I have a friend who is into the kinds of hobbyist stuff that you see a lot of on the Fediverse. I've tried a billion times to get them to come over but for some reason they won't. I mean, you don't pay to sign up or anything, so why not at least create an account and look around? I think that person may even still be on X, which is potentially actively a danger to them.People just have sort of a kneejerk at the concept of change, even if the change isn't necessarily large I guess.

@Em0nM4stodon MP3 players I think. I really miss audio players being a contained, smaller thing with physical buttons and etc. I dug out my old Cowon D2 recently and even though it does use a touchscreen, it has buttons that can still basically control everything you really need to just put it in a pocket and play.I know all the best ones far postdate 2005, but I think you get the idea. (The actual tech itself does go that far back, just less good.)There's just... something about the feel of holding a single dedicated device in your hands that does the one single thing and it does it darned well.

@Rozzychan Yeah, I still don't get why she's apparently spontaneously in love with that dude when every single conversation was... not exactly riveting and she couldn't possibly have looked more bored.#Monsterdon

Ok, I'm a bit late to the movie, but I come in with this dude making fun of someone for saying Godzilla might come back someday and it's just like... You literally live in a world where kaiju exist and you're making fun of someone for saying they might exist?#Monsterdon

Hey, what the actual F is this?If I'm understanding this correctly, Dolphin is trying to make connections to ad servers? And it's doing it through the thumbnail process. I caught a whole bunch of attempts, including to ad.pubmatic.com and other questionable ones besides doubleclick and etc. What is going on? It shouldn't be making any such connections one way or the other from a file manager.. (I normally don't use Dolphin, but Spectacle is ignoring my default file manager setting and manually opening Dolphin instead.)EDIT: Figured it out. It was generating previews of .html files with such references. A file manager still should not do this though... Only Dolphin does. @kde I don't think it should do this.#Linux #KDE #KDEPlasma #Dolphin

@mastodonmigration I guess we get it here, but wow do they not get it there...They're just over there completely baffled. "What can we possibly do? Maybe there's a new proprietary, centralized VC-backed service we can move to?"

@mastodonmigration One thing I'm beginning to learn to my greatest disappointment is that a huge portion of humanity seems to just accept repeated claims at face value. They say they're decentralized, put in a barely even token effort at pretending to offer a mechanism through which decentralization might be theoretically possible (if you're rich,) and people just... accept it because they said it over and over. Apparently repetition is enough to make a thing fact.I can't, for the life of me, understand it. But then I never got why people find repeating memes over and over so hilarious solely for the repetition, not for any actual intended humor within said meme... All I know is this is apparently a mechanism that actually works if done right and it's not one I know how to do right.

@murdoc @mastodonmigration I wish I had more to say to this than "yep" but you've pretty much hit the nail on the head there. And yeah, I was never good at thinking inside the box myself, so I guess that's part of why this whole way of thinking has left me behind.

@Tutanota Just a FYI, the new super low contrast appearance of the website view for email (and presumably the rest, but I only use it for email) is an accessibility issue and just plain harder to read. I have really good vision and it still is unpleasant for me. Reducing contrast to almost nonexistent levels may look better to some people, but overall just is much worse of a view. Sometimes simplest is best and email doesn't have to look fancy. At least give us something closer to the classic color scheme to choose. Though ideally the more color options the better. (Or even add a custom theme option?)#Accessibility

Hey @kde I want you to get all the donations you need to keep going and then some, but having popups on our desktops that effectively amount to ads is a gigantic no-no that could push people away for good instead. This was not a good idea and I STRONGLY urge you to remove this "feature" ASAP.Yes even only once a year is still too often. No ads/etc should ever be a popup within the DE itself. That is never an acceptable practice. I think you underestimate people's well earned hatred of popups and ads. I assure you, they make us MAD.#Linux #KDE #KDEPlasma
