       PoliticsWhen it comes to expressing your opinion about a certain topic with your local representative, I always tell people, just send an email. It goes much further than complaining on Reddit or social networks. There’s likely not that many people doing it so your email is mattering a lot more than you think to make the politician understand what voters care about.

       Lily Cheng my local municipal councillor for #Willowdale just shared how many emails she got  about the new budget and the proposed tax increase. In a ward of 120,000 people she got 30 emails. And 4 phone calls. It really wouldn’t take much to sway this in another direction. #topoli #toronto

       Did you know that the Toronto Zoo used to run a monorail (ish)? The 5.6km transit system closed down in 1994. However the concrete structure that supported the rail is still around in the middle of the forest near Scarborough/Rouge Park.I knew it was reachable because of an old reddit post and also because we can see it from Google Maps.But I didn't know "how" to get there.        It's about a 30min walk in the forest outside the main trail and it's absolutely beautiful (and quiet!). Hardly anyone goes there and the vegetation is slowly taking over the old structure.The concrete, at least the part you walk on, still looks to be in perfect condition. Hard to comment on the elevated structure itself and how safe it is, but we didn't notice any serious structural weakness.

       @Mastodon @afif the issue is Mastodon fundamentally doesn’t understand ecommerce. It’s not their fault, their job is to run a social network. But yeah it’s frustratingPS. There’s no paperwork needed to ship to most countries. You fill a custom form, but it’s the same for any country you ship to. Only US is being a pain right now. No need to register with any government you ship to. In an ideal world the logistics should be outsourced to a logistics partner or 3PL that knows their stuff.
