@_elena I sometimes think about what I would tell the me of 15 years ago about the world I live in now. I can come up with a short list of things which are better now, at least locally where I live. Some cool improvements in computer tech like iPad Pro. Micromobility. But mostly…the world has declined on so many levels. I worry about how much worse it could get. 😕

It's OK to want Bluesky to be better. Just be honest that it's not very good. Like, it's not a very good product and the protocol has made a lot of promises to a lot of people it's just not delivering.I'm not mad at people who like Bluesky. I'm mad at the people who gaslight me trying to convince me it's a well-designed and well-executed product when it's actually not. If I didn't "have" to, I'd never use Bluesky because…it's just not very good. C'mon.

@thomasfuchs I don't think anyone is suggesting the images are being ingested as training data by Hive… More about the lack of disclosure, after apparently a big community stink about Hive in general not so long ago

@atomicpoet I believe we’re at least a decade shy of ending the conversation “should this exist”. We've only begun to scratch the surface of that very necessary and vital conversation.And I am myself am proof positive that the world you claim does not exist anymore still does, because I have consistently boycotted every single genAI service. The funny thing is, my activism hasn't harmed my ability to function quite well in the modern world at all. It truly is completely optional.

I was today years old when I discovered that you can browse #Mastodon via @MonaApp using a…get this…**Game Controller**🤯🤯🤯Wow.(I only discovered this because I'd plugged my DualSense into my Mac to charge overnight and left it connected when booting up Mona today. Took me a while to figure out what the heck was going on! 😂)

I'm killing time waiting for midnight by watching an oldie in my movie library: The Avengers.I know people like to rag on Marvel movies lately, and some of that definitely gets overblown. But dayyyyuumm this movie is *sharp*.It's precisely written, expertly executed in terms of style, and barrels of fun. Hella good casting too. Hard to believe it was only 4 years into the MCU. Talk about firing on all cylinders! 😲
