@pixelfed Seems like an interesting experiment to me. I don't know why so many people instantly assume the worst. I was a fan of the past attempts to let people directly give a little bit for what others have created too, such as Peter Sunde's Flattr. It's not like the fediverse runs for free either, I see lots of instances who are asking users to cover their bills so if you think there isn't any money involved now you must be deliberately ignoring that.

@Mastodon at least the first part of #fetchallreplies is included as well, right?

@fediversereport seems like more apologism for Bluesky. The excuse of "we're only doing this on the official systems" is pretty weak and the exact same one you felt necessary to make for their censorship efforts that have only increased afterwards. Really not a fan of how you're covering it.

@fediversereport hard to see how this Eurosky thing could succeed. Couple of things that would seem to make it unlikely are that BSky is very dependent on the US startup obviously and you can't just cover all of Europe with your content moderation at once when they're mostly different languages and cultures.

@mntmn EU companies have to pay VAT so it is only fair that VAT is paid on imports too. Definitely not a reasonable basis for any kind of retribution with tariffs.

@fediversereport The only version of the events of that meeting I've heard was that the letter wasn't really even discussed and that it was supposed to be done at the next one. Do you have a different version of events you're basing what you wrote here on?I also don't think "bikeshedding" is an accurate way to describe the comments Evan Prodromou has made about the statement and it seems unfair to single him out when he seems to have been far from the only person who had reservations about it.

@mntmn MNT Reform Touch sounds like a concept I am eager to hear more of. I'd be curious to know if it is something that could be made to also work with display glasses using Monado for head tracking.

@mntmn 3840x1080 @ 60Hz (total, not per-eye) would be good enough. Some of these also do have 72Hz or 120Hz modes but don't typically offer higher resolutions than that.

@mntmn I thought they handled it relatively well given the circumstances. Probably shouldn't have kept trying when it didn't work the first couple of times though.I don't like Meta or Zuck at all but I am fairly interested in the type of device they're trying to make a thing. Maybe we can eventually get a user-friendly version of it.

@mntmn As someone who gravitated towards it something like a decade ago because of my configuration management experiences it has been really noticeable that it has become way more popular than it used to be. Felt like validation as I felt some of its ideas are the way forward as soon as I ran into it.

@FediFollows I hope the Mastodon team is aware of this ongoing issue @renchap There's work done to solve it but it has been stale sitting in the pull request queues for a while now...

@mntmn I'd definitely love to see a CM5 adapter to be used with a Pocket Reform and I imagine it would be a good bet for ensuring affordable options remain.

@mntmn seems like it's becoming more and more urgent to get those orders if wanting something with enough RAM to last longer and reasonable price...

@doktorzjivago @tante @_elena that's not even really a wsocial account despite the handle showing as such in the screenshot, it seems like the app is just replacing ".bsky.social" with "wsocial.eu" for Bsky accounts.
