@eff bear in mind that police can associate phones if they travel together, so don't get a 'special activity' phone and have it on at the same time and in the same place as your normal phone. The correlation is made through cell tower triangulation but could presumably also be done through any other locators (same or different type per phone). This can be done retrospectively by data mining, so be careful from the moment you get the second phone.

@eff I've disabled Google Play Services and all Google apps. The only App that refuses to run is Strava, which is no loss, as I use OpenTracks. I have no advertising ID on my phone. Also run Privacy Badger & UBlock Origin on Firefox and reject most cookies, I also have 8 unregistered Nectar cards on rotation. Not to gloat, but just for a giggle, I downloaded everything Google thought they knew about me... turns out it's around ⅝ of F.All.

@eff I presume you're referring to US' absolutist freedom of speech; the anything goes, responsibility free version, where the planet & society going down the tubes is a price worth paying for American rights.

@dansup @pixelfed does that include the ability to 'like'/'boost' individual photos in a post of several photos, and then perhaps order the photos in the post by the vote aggregation - at the choice of the poster.

@dansup @pixelfed also interesting if a poster could categorize their post, to differentiate (hierarchical tags) between things like: * art photo * landscape * portrait * pets & animals * sport * family & group * macro * astro * ... * meme * political * satire * fun * ...And that other users can prioritize seeing areas they're interested in, using these hierarchical tags, as well as reputation, location, affiliations, hashtags, etc.

@dansup @pixelfed would be great if posts here allowed markup; including bold, italic, bulleted lists & numbered lists (multilevel) and ``` codeblocks

@dansup @pixelfed just adds richness of expression to the text associated with the photo/video. For example, if I posted a group photo, I could identify the people using a bulleted or numbered list (e.g. top left to bottom right)*Back row--Bob--Jenny*Middle row--GregEtc...I could imagine near infinite number of other use cases.

@pixelfed HIEF/HFIEC (if I've recalled those correctly) support would be good. My Canon R6 mk2 outputs RAW & HIEC and PF refuses to recognize the HIECs

@pixelfed not sure where to post feature requests but I've noticed a growth in promotions on Pixelfed. Is that something to be encouraged, ignored or discouraged?Personally, I'm mainly bothered by commercialization, particularly if it overwhelms the other content, so I'd be up for discouraging it.Also, Markdown (raised by others previously) seems like a good, user centred way for people to express themselves efficiently. The world of comms elsewhere has evolved this richness (bold, italic, lists & bullets etc), so why not the Fediverse too?

@dansup Where should we put feature requests and how does the community help prioritize them? I use Pixelix on Android to access Pixelfed. Personally, I'm after:1. Exclusion filters (initially based on #tags and partial title & description string matching/synonyms) but eventually AI image analysis. - see also 3.2. Markdown support for description field3. Better supported categorization (probably using existing #tag capabilities but more guided UX) so that categories can be more easily included or excluded (graphic art, art photos, reportage, politics, memes, architecture, microscopy, astronomy, etc)4. Ability to 'like' and 'comment on' individual photos in collections as well as the collection itself.Should I direct these requests at Pixelix or Pixelfed?

@eff How about adding growth has guard rails; it cannot rely on exploitation or unsustainability.*shameless mining of Doughnut Economics by Kate Raworth.

@eff How about tuning it to drone tracking and auto elimination
