@eff @Adam_D_Schwartz @Vox Yet another lesson about why private and public entities should hold as little data about you as possible.

@eff But that's what privacy means. It's not just a warm feeling, it has real implications for people's lives.

@fdroidorg It's a shame that FUTO Keyboard is under a custom noncommercial use license rather than a proper free software license.

@torproject I'll add that some people on the Internet seem to not understand that privacy is not binary. You don't have either zero privacy or full privacy. Privacy is a spectrum, you can have more or less of it.

@eff Most of the listed features make it seem like a GrapheneOS wannabe. To which I reply: "look what they need to mimic a fraction of our power".

@fdroidorg @TheDragon Have you considered adding notifications/badges/whatever inside F-Droid when a reproducible version of an installed app becomes available? I would reinstall if notified, but I rarely read TWIF.

@eff @defcon Over the years, you had plenty of cool designs for EFF hoodies and t-shirts. Have you considered making pocket squares with those designs?

@davidrevoy With First Party Isolation the cookies will hit an invisible wall that will stop them from following her outside of this location.

@NGIZero Organisation name is a required field. Is this survey only for organisations and not for individuals?

@fsfe @Mastodon I looked it up and it's awarded by the German Grimme Institute for high quality online publicism, journalism, education, entertainment, etc. Named after Adolf Grimme.

@eff Why can't we have a non-profit publisher? WikiScience, if you will? I mean people are already doing reviews for free, might as well do them for a nonprofit. What are the issues with my idea? What's the barrier to entry into publishing? You mention platformization, but what kind of platforms are used in science and how are they connected to publishers?

@eff Isn't this a good opportunity to reach the lib-right Americans? Federal government trying to join the powers of ATF, IRS, and other agencies sounds like something they would very much dislike.

@eff Important article, but I'd add that using a weak password for encrypted backups completely defeats the encryption.

@davidrevoy I actually like how Firefox has handled AI - small local models, no spying to train AI on my data. For users who insist on using a mainstream online chatbot, it lets them do it without forcing it on others. (And there are more such users than I thought. People who I thought are way too computer illiterate to use AI surprised me by using ChatGPT.)Firefox lets me translate text locally without big tech spying on my translations. Is this bad because it happens to use neural networks?
