@Juankprada pcmanfm is nice and light. Thunar is also good.If you want to explore further, I think most of the relevant file managers are in this list https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/List_of_applications/Utilities#Graphical

@Juankprada almost two decades ago (time flies!) I used ROX-Filer (https://rox.sourceforge.net/desktop/ROX-Filer.html), which was desktop agnostic. It could be made to handle desktop also if you wanted. It was fast and had nice features. The problem with the agnostic file managers seem to be that they are a one person projects, and they lack features and then they wither away as the coder loses interest. So I'd say just go with Thunar if you like it, and forget about all the stuff it pulls in as dependencies ;)

@Juankprada I know the feeling :) I've spent countless of hours tweaking and recompiling stuff just to get rid of unneeded features. The endgame here would be to build and maintain your own distro, and gatekeep every library and dependency. Luckily I didn't go that far :DNowadays my mindset "just use the tools you need, nevermind the dependencies". Disc space is cheap. My WM is notionwm and while I do almost everything in terminals, I still have all kinds of stuff pulled in as deps.

@eff @cmcsherr @washingtonpost if I have understood correctly @jolla is working on a thing that does this, but locally. Jolla Mind2 they're calling it.It's a box with built-in AI agents, and nothing gets sent to the mothership.https://www.jollamind2.com/

@Tutanota While not applicable in all scenarios, one solution is to leave this whole polluted protocol behind.Check out #geminiprotocol with https://gmi.skyjake.fi/lagrange/The experience is like early web, in a good way.#smolweb

@Tutanota Well shit. Completely unrelated question; when can we expect TutaVPN? 😅
