Finally got some good financial news for myself. Which is good, because I'll soon be in the market for a new battle station. I'll end up stripping my current one for parts after buying a base model laptop made for Linux.

Shopping around the major #Linux laptop manufacturers as well as Alienware (which I've had excellent luck with in the past), once the finances are freed up it looks like I'm ordering a @tuxedocomputers laptop. Mostly price point, but I can also mod it later on.

@eff Leave the main phones at home, take a spare phone without a SIM card and on airplane mode so you can take pictures (you can still connect to wifi on airplane mode), coordinate with others using a Baofeng UV-5R.

New #Introduction post.I am Lord Draken BlackKnight. Until February of this year I was Keeper of the Scroll of the Court of Lazarus, a NYC nightside institution that held a monthly salon noir every 3rd Sunday at Madame X Lounge on Houston St. The Court ceased public meetings as of the close of that gathering, hence why my title in the bio says "Legacy" in parentheses.I haven't left the Bronx since then. Practicing Witch since 1997, right before I turned 19.Which was while I was in the Navy, which was between 1996 and 2000. Anyway, I've lived in the Bronx since late 2002. Before that, I've lived in fucking Delaware. And don't worry if you think I'm doxing myself, I keep an eye on all those stupid people search websites and use a data deletion service to scrub all of that.I've been married to my wife since December 2003, and even at our testiest she has been nothing but supportive of me. I honestly miss New York Anime Festival, but unfortunately ReedPop decided to get rid of that in favor of their much larger (more lucrative) New York Comic Con, leaving every NYC-area weeb with nowhere to do. So I started going to Anime Central out in the Chicago area.I'm not going into employment because I don't like talking about work when I'm not at work, but let's just say that after I left my job in mid-2021 I had started going into credit card debt.4/?

I just recently cleared that debt, again, thanks to my supportive wife. Plans are remaining secret for the time being.Anyway, we have 3 cats. Tessa (a mostly black female) and Bombay (an orange male) were previously featured on Kitten Academy's YouTube channel and I had to bring up my mom's aging declawed calico with one fang missing back in November. Her name is Gracie, and she has been bullying her niece and nephew since she came out of hiding a week after getting here.5/?

The reason we had to bring Gracie up here is because, after my mom died in 2022, my dingbat dad fell for one of those gift card scams to where he really believed he was talking to Carrie Underwood. When I went down this past November to get stuff because I knew he'd lose the house in several months, I saw that Gracie wasn't in the best of health so I agreed to take her in.Sure enough, my dad lost the house. And Gracie was nursed back to health.6/?

Anyway, I've also been playing around with both Android and Linux since January 2009. I've settled on Linux Mint as my preferred distro (since it's the "it just works" one) and I also have a Steam Deck running the stock OS. For my Android phone, I miss rooting it and making my phone do "stupid pet tricks" but unfortunately Google locked down the kernel to where rooting isn't worth it, even with whatever they call Xposed now. I just buy Pixels and degoogle them these days.7/?
