@Tutanota I use a combination of #Vivaldi and #Firefox. Vivaldi with uBlock Origin Lite and the built-in blockers turned on works well, and overall, I trust the company, even if I don't prefer their browser. At least they're a European company with all the protections included.Firefox, on the other hand, does have the reputation. I'm concerned about their direction though, and I have concerns about AI. If they develop it for localized translations, that's not too bad. As for advertising, I understand they need to find an income stream that's not Google, and if the ads are based on the site being visited, not on user browsing history, that's fine. I expect to see ads for beer and trucks when I watch sports, so why not ads for music-related companies if I visit a music website.

I just realized I haven't done a proper introduction post on this account.I'm a hazardous materials technician at a university and I was trained as a teacher at college.I'm married to a wonderful woman and am a proud pet parent (1 dog, 2 cats).I love playing role playing games with friends, drinking way too much coffee.I'm an ADHDer so my interests are constantly in flux. Some consistent ones are gaming, comic books, Linux, amateur coding, memes, and puns.#ttrpg #ADHD

We had to put our cairn terrier Gurps down this afternoon. We had 14 and a half wonderful years with the little bugger. He will be missed.

A few months ago, we adopted a 1 year old stray cat from a friend's neighborhood. Poor Sersi was living under an abandoned house that was scheduled to be demolished. My wife and I agreed to take her in.Today, were informed by the vet that she likely has a tumor on her pituitary gland that has been causing her blood sugar to spike. She lost all of the weight she had put on since we got her and the vet is maintaining without making any progress. The nearest animal hospital that could treat her may not even take her, as her health is so poor.We made the hard choice to have her put down later this afternoon. We will be there with her when it happens. I hate it, but it's the humane choice.

Sersi is at rest now. She was a good cat and we had her for far too brief a time.

@Tutanota There's a burger chain here in the states that has an absolutely fantastic pumpkin pie ice cream. Another chain has the best vanilla frozen custard I've ever had.

@Tutanota Don't at least a couple of those search engine companies incorporate AI?

Not thrilled to see an email from #ProtonMail about their new #AI service. Please tell me that you're not going to follow suit @Tutanota.

@Tutanota I read through your blog post and I couldn't agree more, Comet is a danger to privacy. When I got to the end and clicked on the link for your secure browser list, I received a page error. Is it something on my end or does the link have a typo?It looks like you meant to link to this: https://tuta.com/blog/best-private-browsers

@Tutanota We mostly use Element in our friend group. It's been great for keeping conversations siloed.

@Tutanota no Great list, but no CoMaps? I'm happy that many of the programs I use daily are on the list though.

@Tutanota Privacy is a basic human right. We should all have the freedom to speak our minds without fear of being punished for saying something unliked by those in power. We also deserve the right to keep some information, like our medical records, private ao that information isn't used against us.

@Tutanota I was looking for a private email provider. I tried Proton, but between the owner's political statements and the inclusion of an AI chat project, I went looking elsewhere. That's when I found Tuta.
