@davidrevoy The phrase "feather pen" caught my eye. An English speaker would probably just say "quill'. This led me into a tangle of French/English translations. Online dictionaries (the zombie corpses of living languages) tell me that the English 'pen' is equivalent to 'stylo' in French. I'm also informed by online dictionaries that English 'feather' is equivalent to 'plume' in French, as is the English 'quill'. The dictionaries also tell me that 'la plume' means 'the feather' in English.
