Perseverance rover has driven away from Pico Turquino (see image), and is continuing its climb towards the rim of Jezero crater. It performed contact science there, but no core was taken. Onwards and upwards! Image is a roughly processed end-of-drive NavCam from site 62.1666 acquired on Sol 1338. Elsewhere on Mars. A close-up of "Milly’s Foot Path". A small rock crushed by the wheels of Curiosity rover. Acquired using the Mars Hand Lens Imager on Sol 4355. The MAHLI camera standoff was ~10 centimeters. For scale, the scene width is ~5 centimeters. NASA/JPL-Caltech/MSSS #Mars #Curiosity #MarsRover #NASA #science #space #exploration #solarrocks

Onwards & Upwards for Perseverance rover.Judging by the wheel tracks in this roughly processed post-drive tiled-NavCam from Sol 1342, the drive direction to site 62.2066 appears to be close to west-southwest. The updated map and drive data (JSON) are unlikely to be released until after the holiday weekend, so I'll share the drive data and map as soon as they are available. Perseverance Rover continues its walkabout outside the crater rim on sol 1477 (April 16, 2025) with a drive of 92.5 meters (303.6 ft) with a climb of 11.5 meters (37.7 ft) to site 72.542. Attached is one of the post drive navigation camera images looking at a ridge it examined a couple of weeks ago. Perseverance Views Deimos Before Sunrise: The rover captured this view of Deimos, the smaller of Mars' two moons, shining in the sky at 4:27 a.m. local time on March 1, 2025, (Sol 1433), in the dark before dawn, the rover's left navigation camera used its maximum long-exposure time of 3.28 seconds for each of 16 individual shots. In total, the image represents an exposure time of about 52 seconds. Regulus and Algieba are also seen.#Perseverance #rover #NASA #Space #Solarocks #Mars #Deimos
