@Tutanota Growing AI power demand means that doubling data centers to keep pace with the industry will lead to an 80% increase in greenhouse gas emissions, even if measures are taken to improve the energy efficiency of these centers, according to a new report by a coalition of several environmental groupshttps://foe.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/AI_Climate_Disinfo_v6_031224.pdf• Goldman Sachs: Data center power demand will increase by 160% by 2030https://www.goldmansachs.com/insights/articles/AI-poised-to-drive-160-increase-in-power-demand• Morgan Stanley: Predicts that emissions from data centers will rise to 2.5 billion tons of CO2 equivalent worldwide by 2030https://www.reuters.com/markets/carbon/global-data-center-industry-emit-25-billion-tons-co2-through-2030-morgan-stanley-2024-09-03/

@Tutanota According to calculations by research company SemiAnalysis, AI will cause data centers to consume4.5% of global energy production by 2030.https://www.theguardian.com/technology/article/2024/jul/02/google-ai-emissions• AI data centers could require more electricity than the Netherlands by 2027https://www.datacenterdynamics.com/en/news/ai-data-centers-could-use-more-electricity-than-the-netherlands-by-2027/https://www.cell.com/joule/fulltext/S2542-4351(23)00365-3AI is likely to increase energy consumption and accelerate climate misinformation.https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2024/mar/07/ai-climate-change-energy-disinformation-report• Demand for AI services will grow by 30-40% annually over the next 5-10 years. One estimate suggests that global AI-related energy consumption could be 10 times higher in 2027 than in 2023.https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-024-01137-x

@Tutanota The first version of the Stable Diffusion image generator was trained for 200,000 hours in Amazon's AWS data centers on the US East Coast, reportedly generating 15 tons of CO2 equivalent in the process.https://arxiv.org/ftp/arxiv/papers/2104/2104.10350.pdf• Assumption: Google answers all search queries with artificial intelligence=> Ten times as much electricity – equivalent to the demand of around 3.4 million four-person householdshttps://asociace.ai/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/ai-spotreba.pdf

@Tutanota on work-managed devices, I would always expect something like this.

@Tutanota that's why I always have two devices, one for work and one privately. And in my company, if I have a work-managed device, bring your own device, I have to sign a document that they have the right to wipe it entirely and to surveille it to a huge extent.

@Tutanota @volla that I have full control over my phone and big tech cannot tell me what's good for me or what is best for me. I decide and that is what my phone has to show.

@Tutanota Mail: Standard-Support such as S/Mime and PGP Calendar: Dynamically change the display when a day starts and ends, e.g. 8-5pm. I would want to see all my working schedule at one glance and don’t want to scroll up and down for every day.

@Tutanota it is a human right, period. I don't think we should have to explain why we want that human rights are adhered to. I think they must explain why they want to take them away. And then they should also explain which other human rights they want to take away. And then they should also explain how they want to change the constitution because most of the westernized countries have human rights in their constitutions.

@torproject I tried to apply but was not successful with your chosen provider handling application requests. It seems I must disable VPN and I must allow all the tracking. And a google captcha. It looked like a dream job.
