I don't have nearly enough art in my life. I don't know anything about art. My coworkers make fun of my office. I'd like to have more art.Problem: I don't know how to find what I like, and I want to support small-scale artists. My odd request is: I like a song by Circle Takes The Square about the end of the world called "North Star, Inverted." The best part of the song sets up a relationship between the future, the present, and the past. I would love to commission a human person's interpretation of these verses in three parts:__The future can't sleepIt doesn't need toIt dreams standing up like the statuesIn the gardens we'll pass through-Past the guardians at the gatepostThe Light: how it gives and it takesPitch black, the poles lost their gripLet the axis reverse-Precious balance of mind now disturbed...This world, it slips and tearsAnd if the smoke ever clearsWill the southern skies now host The Northern Lights?Let's make pretend:"It was all a delusionIt's all in your headIt was all an illusionLike gold out of lead."The present can't seeIt is blind but has visionsOf pillage and pilgrimageThe purging of empires-Tyrants, their treasonous wars...Then without warning its doneA clean slate just feels like a dead weightThe burdens of surface stoneScrapes skin from bonesAs we crawled across dark parking lotsFelt the forest floor cringe...And let the cities cave inThe past lost its voiceIt can't speak but was spoken forBy pundit and prophet...Until the dust clouds around usEroded our embellished beliefIn some fixed historyCould we recognizeSymbols made of smoke?Across the canopyThat soft-spoken skyBurnt by the torchlightAs we chart out the ley-linePray the earth it won't break one more timeAll the voices we heardAs we followed the fault linesDevoured, digested, cast out...Decomposed---In my outrageously ignorant mind, it's three jagged, black scenes hemmed in with thick black smoke and branches: (1) a figurative Future with too many limbs pacing in a darkened garden among human bodies frozen in stone, a narrow stone archway looked over by search lights and machines with glowing red eyes, the margins becoming almost cubist to reflect the uncertainty and impossibility of inconsistent, unclear futures; (2) a close view of a clear face (the figurative Present) with two scenes painted where eyes should be, one of a mob tearing a man apart as he throws money at them, the other of a woman in rags standing over a cowering man and swinging a paving tile at his head with both hands; (3) the figurative Past, with no mouth, stands in a forest grove among piles of bones and plants that look like gnashing teeth; the teeth are tearing at the Past's robes and flesh; the sky is clear and gentle like a late summer sunset. Smoke and trees separate the three scenes.I hate AI and have no artistic talent of my own. I don't know what would be fair to pay. But I think this would be a tremendously satisfying thing to see brought to life. And, because I'm a tax lawyer (but not your tax lawyer), I think it'd be fun to hang in my office. Is this nuts? Anyone interested in taking a crack?

My life would be so weird if I were as expressive and articulate in person as I am in print. On the page, I'm animated and energetic and exciting. In person, I'm dry and I stutter and I lose my train of thought.

@mntmn I miss that point in mid-2023 when the slop images were still chaotic, impossible fever dreams and biblically accurate shitshows, before uncanny hyperphotorealism and rock-tumblered comic strip drawings became the standard output. It wasn't art, it was just amusingly insane. That was the sweet spot.

If you live your life well, you'll find like six Mastodon aunts who ask you if you're staying hydrated. I love my Mastodon aunts.
