[google translate, sorry]

@vegos_f06 @dertizen Now instead of linking you select multiple layers.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@darix/115650018792548020For a quick non-developer translation, what the quoted message would mean is that G'MIC filters could be…1/ run with on-canvas preview (including the before/after "curtain");2/ usable as non-destructive filters;3/ searchable and callable through action search;4/ given shortcuts;5/ and more…Basically they'd be more integrated into GIMP's standard UI and the ideal workflow, including all the little quality-of-life features of #GEGL filters. So yeah, it's good news! 😄

@gfkdsgn @MostlyTato @Krita there doesn’t have to be a single tool to do everything. Some people prefer MyPaint or Krita for painting over GIMP, some prefer GIMP, some prefer GIMP for photograph, some RawTherapee or Darktable. So you can use a mix of tools and thatś fine.

@Pandya don’t worry, GIMP is still distributed under teh GPL and we have no plans to change that - software freedom is very important to us.

@mortal_engine We wouldn’t want to be _normal_. We want to be _special_!Work properly? Whatever can you mean?I know you’re frustrated, but there isn’t really a good response to your questions.“intuitive” means “i can predict how it will behave based on my knowledge” but what knowledge do you bring to GIMP?If it helps - make sure to keep a careful eye on Tool Options as you work. Beyond that, I dont know what you expect that’s different.

@mortal_engine Which GIMP version? On the Mac? Which version exactly? How much memory (RAM) does your system have?

@mortal_engine @vegos_f06 we’d still like to know more about what is going on for you.The paths in GIMP are getting revamped a bit to support vector layers in 3.2 by the way, although it’s a bit of a hidden feature right now.

@flipsideza no need to be frustrated, you can turn off the layer boundary in Edit/Preferences under Image Window

@mortal_engine @vegos_f06 https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues for general issues; there is also a separate place for USX issues but we can move things to that if needed.

@mortal_engine @vegos_f06 we do have a bug report for this one actually. Also, if you set the move tool to move the active layer (in tool options) then yu can click anywhere in the rectangle i think. Also while the text tool is active you can hold down alt to move the layer.

@daltux @mortal_engine @vegos_f06 If you set the move tool (in GIMP 3) to move the active layer, you don't have to click on text pixels exactly. And you don't if you hold down ALT while the text tool is active either, although in that case you only get to preview the rectangle, not the text, as you drag.

@lastofavari Thanks, maybe you could report it as a bug? It might well already be reported. There’s a link near the end of gimp.org to report bugs, and you can search there too. Thanks!
