       @eff It's worth noting that true AI exists only in the science fiction literature.In real life, the so-called "AI" is just a very large database equipped with a search engine. You don't need to be an IT expert to see how such contraptions will always reflect the political bias of their creators.It's just an attempt to shift responsibility - so that later they could say "it's the computer's fault!" No, it's not. Again, there's no such thing as AI. Computers do only what they're told to do.

       Apparently, it's not only Putin who is afraid of Navalny even after murdering him.I just blocked a guy who still wages ideological war against Alexey. Of course, he repeated the same old clichéd accusation of "nationalism" that the Kremlin propaganda feeds to the gullible.I won't even try to hide how angry and annoyed I am.        The results of the EU vote not the least surprisingly show once again that we need a different approach. The politicians will never be on our side, no matter how much they smile and shake hands with us. Our agenda will ALWAYS be sidelined in favor of more "important and immediate issues" (read: in favor of populist nonsense).We've been through this many times before. Go and vote out of principle, but expect nothing. A large part of winning is choosing a battlefield where you actually can win.

Come on, where there are guns, there will ALWAYS be shootings. Guns serve only one purpose, you can't use them any other way, so the problem is guns themselves.It's exactly the same with monopolies. Their misuse of power is merely a symptom. The problem is power itself; no entity should be allowed to have so much of it in the first place.

The so-called "AI" is merely a very large database, a search engine and an algorithm that translates search results into "answers" that look somewhat like human speech.Now let's take another step. What is a search engine? Essentially, it's a data indexing system.The entire thing has "surveillance tech" written all over it in giant flashing red letters, and the Apple Siri scandal is just the most recent reminder.

       @eff Thank you!I've never had an account on Facebook, Instagram, Threads or WhatsApp (and likely I never will). My decision to migrate here from Twitter was correct. No commercial social media platform can be trusted to put the interests of its users first.Like you said, we can achieve a temporary victory with a lot of backlash, but such victories fail to transform into a comprehensive and reasonable policy. It's probably time to acknowledge that Big Tech is incapable of self-regulation.
