About the Anarchist Cookbook
It seems that a lot of people are interested in the legendary
Anarchist Cookbook, hence this page. It is still work in progress, so you
are all explicitly requested to submit reviews of the book or other
information to us, so we can add it here.
Spunk Press does not carry the book. This is a conscious
decision, based on the following reasons:
- While we do not all agree with all material in the Spunk catalog we should
all be able to live with it. The Anarchist Cookbook may well fail to pass this test,
if it were applied, due to its contents.
- The general consensus among anarchists seems to be that the book is
very badly written, and full of factual errors. These go so far that you will
probably blow yourself up if you try one of the bomb recipes, or poison
yourself if you try a drug from the book. The rumour is often heard that
the book was compiled by a CIA agent for exactly this reason. Believe this
or not to your own liking.
What we do carry is a review of the book, and some other people have
reviews as well. Select from below:
We are also compiling a real
Anarchist Cookbook, i.e.
food and drink recipes. So, if you have anarchist food recipes: please <mai@burn.ucsd.edu>.
Deciding whether a certain
recipe is anarchist is left as an exercise for the reader.
By the way: why bother yourself with the cookbook if there are so many
other interesting works in our
catalogue? Or check out the
Spunk Press home page for more information about us.
Finally, if you still want to continue hunting for the original cookbook: go to a
bookstore. A group/company called E-Logic is apparently
in the process of making it available electronically, contact
nxtc@midusa.net for details.
Don't ask us and don't ask the anarchy-list or other
