The Paumanok Review wants just one thing: to be the best.  
     TPR is a literary e-zine dedicated to publishing and promoting the best in contemporary art and literature.
     The past five years have witnessed enormous growth in both the Internet and electronic publishing. Unfortunately, much of what is published is either too "experimental" for an educated adult audience, or too prosaic to make much of an impact on those not entranced by repetitive and questionable moral pronouncements. But few people would deny that the Internet is the wave in publishing's future. The immediacy and ease of the method offers an addictive breath of fresh air for writers put off by print's delays and hassles and for readers eager for information, entertainment, and quality at a moment's glance.       Quality. Easy to say, much harder to find. The Paumanok Review is a product of the need to take Internet publishing another step in the search for that elusive necessity. Thus, the tenets--  
     TPR endeavors to:

• Create an environment where authors who would not normally consider putting their work on-line will be at ease with the process, and the results.
• Satisfy a literate adult audience.
• Enable the ready transfer of information between author and a worldwide readership.
• Publish the best in art and literature from all ages, nationalities, and stylistic orientations.
• Promote open communication between editor, author, and audience.
• Publish new and emerging writers and artists aside the more established.
• Be an instrument of free speech both for those accustomed to the right and for those who brave threats of retribution to tell the stories which must be told.

     To achieve these goals, you need to be involved. If you are a reader, please take a moment to note what you like and dislike. Help me adjust content and layout to better serve your needs. I will do my best to implement changes which expedite your enjoyment of the site. If you are a writer or artist, let me know what you would like to see in terms of presentation and promotion.  
     To be the best is ambitious but entirely possible. With your help, TPR will elevate the standard in Internet publishing to new, exciting places in the coming years. This is just the beginning. And maybe that's the best place to be. Are you ready for the journey?
