Before I sat down to write this statement of introduction, I had a lot to say. But it comes down to just one thing: being the best. TPR is a literary e-zine dedicated to publishing and promoting the best in contemporary art and literature. The past five years have witnessed enormous growth in both the internet and electronic publishing. Unfortunately, much of what is published is either too "experimental" for an educated adult audience, or too prosaic to make much of an impact on those not entranced by repetitive and questionable moral pronouncments. But few people would deny that the internet is the wave in publishing's future. The immediacy and ease of the method offers an addictive breath of fresh air for writers put off by print's delays and hassles and for readers eager for information, entertainment, and quality at a moment's glance. Quality. Easy to say, much harder to find. The Paumanok Review is a product of the need to take internet publishing another step in the search for that elusive necessity.
