Virtual Worlds...coming to a BBS near you?

VRML is a spec that appears as if it could be applied to more than
just the Internet as a communications vehicle...

Let's say, for example, that Galacticomm (the most mature...over 10
years as a BBS platform developer) decides to enhance their WorldGroup
Manager for Windows to include support for VRML... it doesn't seem
like that much of a leap now that I experienced their "Hypermedia"
enhancement module for WorldGroup. Animation, "ticker tape" scroll
boxes, image support for all the popular formats, text windows, task
lists, and .WAV/.MID sound support!

Who the hell am I? I run CyberWorld... a local online service in
Billings, MT... and it just exploded an the scene with a hypermedia
platform! The "Home page" is a futuristic city with the buildings
being the different services available... user clicks and sees the
building menu... there is an online M.A.L.L. and a Digital Art
Gallery... and yes, I consider it a "virtual world" and am keeping
tabs on how VRML can be applied through a third-party upgrade module
for WorldGroup...

At the expense of making this article sound like an "infomercial"...
if you would like to take a first hand look at what CyberWorld is like,
jump on over to the Cool Internet Info page (which is still under
construction and is NOT part of CyberWorld yet...) and grab the
CyberWorld Install disks for WorldGroup Manager.

(I have been on this list for over 6 months, but now I'm
unsubscribing temporarily... send e-mail responses only... thanks!)
