GET YOUR GODDAMN...

Ok children, I just want to point out a few things here.

1) Responding at the poster's level isn't any better. In fact, IMHO
it's about 10x more offensive because you should know better.

2) The reason that _every_ mailing list repeats this charade over and
over again is because the "dual list" interface is a stupid, totally
flawed user interface. Don't gripe at newbies just because the
software folks didn't do the job "right." Moreover, there are several
different listserv / listproc / majordomo methods out there, and they
all are slightly different from one another. Anyone who thinks this
is a "good" interface for mailing lists in general needs a serious
reality check.

The "right" interface, IMHO, would be a distinguished text string that
is scanned for on the first line of a message to the list itself, with
an obvious syntactic setoff. Like:

<unsubscribe>

Feel free to pass this idea along to anyone who writes listserv
software. (That person is not myself.)

3) While we're all waiting for this wonderful listserv software to be
implemented, atch the situation by telling a newbie what to do. Don't
shout.

Sorry to waste bandwidth, I am just _very_ fed up with certain
behaviors around here.

Cheers,
Brandon
