What is the difference between "growing" a virtual world over time
and dropping a finished tree or plant or whatever that has the same
characteristics as a "growing" tree or plant? Heck, I could point
out that that is how the REAL world was created, but then that would
be bordering on a religious discussion...

Ah, but you are talking about including elements that would allow the
objects to change over time and be influenced by factors such as
sunlight, climate, weather, etc... why?

I'd rather see a virtual world that is unlike the natural world...
something close to a visual representation similar to, dare I say and be cast
out as simply a VR "user"...well, I AM..., dreamed up by William
Gibson for "cyberspace" as seen in Johnny Mnemonic and also borrowed
by the TV series Tech Wars. Hey, I _like_ these vistas... I want to
experience these kinds of high tech landscapes... not fly over trees
and walk through landscaped gardens. *shrug* Of course, a few
"hidden" places like that would be nice.

Does silicon grow? Do crystal structures grow? Hmm...
