There is already a system out that will allow you to play the part
of anyone within Hamlet, and interact with the images of the other
"actors". Whilst it is not VR, (i.e, no HMD and gloves), it is very
close to what is being proposed here.

Optionally, the user(s) can have their part of the script displayed
for them on the monitor.

I can't recall what the system is called or who is developing it, but
I could find out if anyone in the U.K. wants to follow up on it?
