"1002situations" - an interactive peoples museum on the internet

"1002 situations" shows views of "homeland" contributed from
the WWWs world-wide audience. You can interactively deposit text,
pictures or sound which describe your situations. This projects has
its origin at the Castle Tollet located in Upper Austria, Austria,
and ends with your material being exhibited at the Castle for two weeks
starting the 15th of September. There is a competition for the 3 most
interesting text, picture or sound file placed into the museum. First
prize includes a trip to Castle Tollet for the opening of the exhibition
on September 22nd 1995 - no matter where in the world you are.

Inside this museum project the word "heimat" (a german word which can
translate meaning home or homeland) will be defined through a global
perspective by world-wide participants (<-this means you). You as a
participant will be asked to define and show your "heimat" inside this
exhibition space. Viewers that take part are automatically entered into the
competition for the most interesting text, picture, or sound file. First
prize is a trip to the opening of the museum exhibition in Austria
on September 22nd - no matter where in the world you are.
We developed a system, based on the structure of the WWW (Internet)
that allows, through its interactive tools, to gather material for the
exhibition rooms. Your contributions, which can be text, pictures or
sound should represent aspects of real living situations in which you
see in connection through the theme of "heimat" (homeland).
Depending on the initiative and engagement of you, 0a growing, dynamic
exhibition will be created which gives a widened global contribution to
this discussion. The starting point of this project begins in the museum
at Castle Tollet which is located in the province of Upper Austria in Austria.
We use the rooms in the Castle where the themes are: childhood, community,
food, language, living-space, surrounding and things and digitalize them
into the WWW. These virtual rooms are structured by the original floorplan
of the Castle and show the regional objects taken from this rooms.
Through participation, the visitors should fill these rooms according to
the themes. The museum will show a wide range of different situations,
like windows, which open onto the global village.
Starting on the 15th of September 1995 the exhibition will have an end point
in the "material" world. The exhibition "objects" will be materialized and
on display for two weeks for an exhibition at the Castle Tollet.
1002situations is part of the "Festival of the Region" which is taking place
September 15th and runs until October 1st in Upper Austria.
