"We go in with a few samples, perhaps a sampled guitar riff or perhaps a vocal idea or some beats, and really with just a sketch of sounds," explains Heal. "Because we don't have much money to record, we're under intense pressure to finish the recording quickly which means you have to make decisions very, very quickly. But the good thing about that is that you don't go into the awful corporate rock phenomena of being stuck in the studio for months and getting very pretentious and indulgent. You come up with something that is immediate, but also very unpredictable because you don't have time to pre-conceive what you want to do."
