[the first of two parts] Malcolm X was a threat to both organized crime and elements of the U.S. government when he was killed. The assassination is a fuzzy and shifting controversy, one that takes us beyond official explanations into a world of disinformation and conspiracy. Hoover's FBI declared a secret war against black political dissent. According to documents released under the Freedom of Information Act, an FBI COunterINTELligence PROgram (COINTELPRO) begun in the 1960s sought:to "expose, disrupt, misdirect, discredit, or otherwise neutralize the activities of black nationalist ...organizations [and] their leadership." to "capitalize upon existing conflicts between competing black nationalist organizations" and "exploit through counterintelligence techniques the organizational and personal conflicts of the leadership of the groups." To "prevent the rise of a 'messiah' who could unify and electrify the militant black nationalist movement. "Through coincidence or conspiracy, the killing of Malcolm X achieved this last goal with great precision. And the calculated blaming of rival black muslims clearly served the FBI's aim of promoting conflict within the black nationalist community. Leon Ameer was an associate of Malcolm X and a leader of his Organization of Afro American Unity. In March of 1965 he stated, "I have facts in my possession as to who really killed Malcolm X." referring to the Chicago headquarters of the Nation of Islam, he declared, "the killers aren't from Chicago, they're from Washington." Ameer said he would hold a press conference and release the incriminating documents and audio tape that he claimed to possess. The next day, he was found dead in his Boston hotel room. Police stated that he'd died of an epileptic seizure, despite his wife's assertion that a recent doctor's exam had shown whether or not they had a role in the assassination, government officials certainly considered Malcolm X a threat, one to be watched and controlled. The FBI had begun monitoring Malcolm X as early as 1953, when the young minister for the Nation of Islam was placed on a Security Index of people top be rounded up and detained in times of "danger to national security." and there was at least one under cover informant present at his assassination: Malcolm's bodyguard Gene Roberts, who was actually an undercover cop with the New York Police Depart-ment's Bureau of Special Services (BOSS). After the assassination, which took place in New York's Audubon Ballroom on February 21, 1964, the crowd seized two of the assailants (at least four men were involved in shooting Malcolm and creating a diversionary disturbance). Both men were arrested, as the first news reports explained. But, for un-known reasons, the existence of the second man was removed from subsequent press coverage. The appearance of the second man - "a thin lipped, olive skinned Latin- looking man - matches the description of a man whom Malcolm X had noticed trailing him during the previous week. . . . to be continued Who Controls Clinton? The Insiders. The Masons. The British gavernmentt. Conspiracy theoriests can link Bill Clinton to a number of hidden hands. But it's rare for the mainstream media to discuss such behind-the-scenes influences. The following report from the Washington Post is a refreshing exception: The president of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the bations;s largest pro-Isreal lobby, has resigned after being secretly tape-recorded boasting that the group was "negotiating" with the Clinton campaign about key appointments, and claimin he "cut a seal" with then-secretary of State James Baker to get Isreal extra aid . . . David Steiner, a New Jersey real estate developer and active political donor, said in a statement Friday that he was resigning because (his statements) "went beyondoverzealousness and exagerration and were simply and totally untrue." Steiner was taped by Nrw York businessman Harry Katz, who called Steiner Oct. 22 posing as someone who was considering donating $100,000 to pro-Israel congressional candidates. Steiner . . . cited personal help he had given Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii) and Rep. Les Aspin (D-Wisconsin)). Katz, 42, a member of the Israel Public Affairs Committee, said he tricked Steiner because "I don't think the Jewish lobby should have disproportionate political power. I wanted him to admit to me the incr4edible infiltration of the Israel lobby into the campaign." . . . A transcript of the interview shows that Steiner told Katz: "We have a dozen people in his (Clinton's) headquarters . . . and they're allgoing to get big jobs." He also said "we're negotiating" with the Clinton camp on who might be secretary of state. (The Clinton campaign and AIPAC have denied such negotiations. Nevertheless, Rep. Les Aspin has been named Clinton's choice for secretary of Defense--Al Hidell, Paranoia Ed.). Steiner also said in his talk with Katz that he had met with Baker asnd "cut a deal with him." Besides Israels's $3 billion a year in U.S. foreign aid, I got almost a billion dollars in other goodies tha people don't even know abour. Global Elites Scorecard XXX Each year, wealthy elites from government, business, and finance meet behind armed guards to "discuss" world events. And yet these Insiders' meetings and organizations go largely unreported in the mainstream media. (Media representatives who attend are sworn to secrecy.) The three majopr Insider organizations are: The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR): The largest and oldest Insider group was created at a paris meeting of 1919. The CFR was an offshoot of the round table group, an influential british secret society funded by Cecil Rhodes. The CFR has hadm since the Roosevelt Administration, members in virtually every key U.S. policy position. Its membership has included such "liberals" as Alger Hiss, John K. Galbraith, and Robert Kennedy as well as "conservatives" like Dwight Eisenhower, John Foster Dulles, Henry Kissinger, and Richard Nixon. Bill Clinton, a Rhodes Scholar, is a longtime CFR member. The Trilateral Commission: The newest Insider Group was founded in 1973 by Chase Manhattan Bank Chairman David Rockefeller and had roughly 300 members by 1980. It draws its membership from the ruling classes of North America, Western Europe, and Japan. The Commission has included future Democratic presiential candidates Jimmy Carter and Walter Mondale as well as Republicans George Bush and Caspar Weinberger. Bill Clinton has been involved with the Trilateral Commission since the mid-1980s. The Bilderberger Group: Once defined, misleading, by the New York Times as a group of "U.S. and European scholars (5/27/92), the Bildergbergers are the most selective and secretive insider orgnization. Founded in 1954 by former Nazi SS storm trooper Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, the grouop is European-led but heavily influenced by the ubiquitous David Rockefeller and Henry Kissinger. Named after the Hotel at which they first met, the Bilderbergers consist of approximately 120 of the world's top bankers, international financiers, politicians, and business leaders. Bill Clinton was summoned to his first Bilderberger conference in 1991 in Baden-Baden, Germany. --from Paranoia, Spring 1993 ####################### Did The CIA Bomb The World Trade Center? The arrest in Egypt of Mahmud Abouhalima, described as the "ringleader" in the Feb 26 bombing of the World Trade Center, raises questions about the alleged role of rightwing Islamic fundamentalists in an act of terrorism that killed six innocent people and injured hundreds. It also raises questions about the longstanding links between these reactionary elements and the CIA. The FBI chartered a special jet to fly to Cairo to pick up Abouhalima, keeping the suspect tightly under wraps. From the beginning, the reports of the bombing have not added up. How did the bombers manage to drive a Ryder rental van loaded with a 1,200 pound bomb into the World Trade Center garage and park it near the most secure parking zone in the building, reserved for the U.S. Secret Service and for the President's limousine when he visits New York? The speed in the apprehension of the bombing suspects, itself, raises questions. The New York Times reported March 20 that during the war in Afghanistan, Abouhalima travelled repeatedly from the New York metropolitan area to fight with the anti-communist mujahadeen in Afghanistan. The group worked out of an Atlantic Avenue mosque in Brooklyn and later at a nearby storefront office. At it's height, the group "sent as many as 200 young, fervent Arab immigrants to Pakistan and then Afghanistan to fight," an anonymous source told the Times. "If someone wanted to go there and fight or participate in this war against Russia, he was supposed to get information, how to get there, and how to get a visa." These "enthusiasts" were given training in the use of firearms at rifle ranges. It is a matter of record that the CIA poured at least $2 billion into the contra war in Afghanistan and probably 10 times as much. In 1987 alone, the CIA subsidized the mujahadeen to the tune of $640 million, a sum matched by the Saudis. The CIA supplied the rebels with hand-held Stinger missiles, the most advanced tactical weapon in the U.S. arsenal. Tens of thousands died in this fratricidal war that overthrew the progressive government, plunging Afghanistan into a nightmare of reactionary warlordism. If Abouhalima was a CIA "asset" it might explain why the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) permitted him to overstay his visa by five years. The Times noted that with his expired visa "it was not clear how he left and reentered the country to go to Pakistan" several times. On Dec1, 1990, INS mysteriously granted Abouhalima permanent resident status as an "agricultural worker." In fact, he was a cab driver. The FBI now admits that they had Abouhalima and several of his confederates under investigation ever since the assassination of Meir Kahane, founder of the ultra-right Jewish Defense League, two years ago. The U.S. government concedes that Egyptian authorities repeatedly warned them of the dangers from an Islamic fundmentalists network in the U.S. for months before the bombing. The suspects in the World Trade Center bombing were allegedly brought together by Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman, the cleric who was tried and acquitted in the 1981 assassination of Egyption President Anwar Sadat. Sheik Rahman made two trips to rebel headquarters in Peshawar, Pakistan, the most recent in May, 1990 shortly before he came to the U.S. He forged operational links with Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, head of a CIA-backed rebel army in Afghanistan. When Sheik Rahman arrived in the U.S., he was assisted by Mustafa Shalabi, head of a group that raised funds for the Afghan rebels. Shalabi provided a guest house for the sheik when he arrived from Pakistan. Located in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, it was used to shelter "people going to and from Afghanistan." It sounds suspiciously like a CIA "safehouse." Abouhalima served as a chauffeur for Sheik Rahman who is blind. Shalabi, however, soon parted company with the Sheik Rahman over contro of the money raised for the rebels. The sheik also wanted target secular governments like those in Egypt and Algeria for overthrow as part of a drive to establish islamic republics. Shalabi evidently wanted to target only Afghanistan. In early 1991, Shalabi was found dead with bullet and knife wounds in his Brooklyn apartment. The killing remains unsolved. But Sheik Rahman was blamed by some in the Arab community and he moved to a mosque in Jersey City. On April 9, 1991, INS granted Sheik Rahma permanent resident status.
