The guys have decided to put the band on hold while they focus on other matters. Six years of weekend practices and shows has taken its toll. He is enrolled in his third year of college at Millersville University. He covets your prayers, especially for his Classical Greek course! Rod Feltman is leaving the door open for the future, but felt that he has to refocus his life at this point. He left Sardonyx on the same day as Jeff. Rod has been working three jobs to provide for his family and his St. Bernard (you know how much they can eat!). He has also expressed some interest in becoming more active in local ministry. Word Press Release--Miss America 1994-A Sandi Patty Fan (Nashville, TN) - 9/21/94- At the Miss America Pageant on September 17th in Atlantic City, NJ, Miss Alabama, Heather Whitestone, was announced as a top ten finalist. Kathie Lee Gifford introduced her during the talent competition and said she was dancing to Sandi Patty's "Via Dolorosa." The song is from the gold album _The Finest Moments_. Her routine was beautifully done, and what made it even more special was the fact that Heather Whitestone is deaf. With the help of her hearing aid, she memorized the beat, and "felt the rhythm in her heart." As she said during her interview, she wanted to praise God through her dancing. As a wonderful ending to the evening, Miss Alabama became the 1994 Miss America. Sandi Patty was thrilled and honored for her song to be a part of the show, but more importantly to have been an inspiration in Heather Whitestone's life. She said, "The song "Via Dolorosa" has always been a favorite of mine and to have it used in such a special way is very meaningful. I congratulate Heather on such a magnificent accomplishment." Word Press Release--Word Records Honors Point Of Grace (September, 1994)--At a celebration in Nashville recently, Point Of Grace was honored for their unprecedented success in Contemporary Christian Music. The group's self-titled debut album was released in October 1993 and, after only 6 months in the marketplace, Point Of Grace was named New Artist Of The Year at 1994's Dove Awards. Larnelle Harris To Undergo Surgery This Winter Nashville, TN -- Five-time Grammy and 10-time Dove winner, Larnelle Harris, is scheduled to undergo hip replacement surgery this December. Due to the hospitalization and subsequent recovery period, Harris will be absent from this year's Young Messiah Tour for the first time since the tour's inception in 1990. Norman Miller, producer for the Young Messiah Tour, stated: "The entire Young Messiah team of artists and support staff will very much miss Larnelle on this year's Young Messiah Tour. We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to him rejoining us in "95." "The doctors tell me I will have about a 12-week recovery period, but I look forward to being back on the road early next spring. This album also features a previously unreleased song that Crystal has sung at Harvest Crusades, "Come Just As You Are." "Cuz I'm a straight-up psycho, sick in the head, bucking the demons with a bat---rat-tat-tat-tat." --T-BONE Peter King To Host MTV Game Show Nashville, TN--Peter King, guitarist for Myrrh Records recording artist Dakoda Motor Co., will co-host Sand Blast, a new action/sports game show on MTV, along with Summer Sanders, the U.S. swim team gold medalist from the '92 Olympics in Barcelona. King and Summers will film 65 shows on location at Disney World during the month of October. Sand Blast will air daily on MTV beginning the week after Christmas. King and his band, Dakoda Motor Co., have been touring in support of their highly acclaimed sophomore Myrrh project, Welcome, Race Fans, which released in June, and the group will be releasing their Welcome, Race Fans video in September. The video, which features songs from their current album, was produced and directed by Steve Taylor and Peter King. Effective immediately, all CBA sales and distribution of Gotee Records product will be available through Myrrh Records/Word Distribution. The new agreement was kicked off with a concert at 328 Performance Hall on August 23, 1994, featuring Out of Eden, Christafari, Grits and E-Race. Amy Grant Amy Grant's _House of Love_ shipped over 460,000 units to CBA outlets on August 15, breaking records in the Christian music marketplace. Total pre- release sales by Myrrh and A&M exceed one million units. Amy leaves in September for an intensive European concert and promotional tour. Her current single, "Children of the World" is at #8 four weeks after the single shipped! Way to go, Jill Brownell! Prior to the album's release on the 23rd, the Top 25 radio stations were mailed a special giveaway promo package which included cassettes, standups and CD libraries. Bryan Duncan His latest project, _Slow Revival_, just released to retail. _Slow Revival_ follows on the heels of Bryan's highly successful _Mercy_ project, which was named 1993 Album of the Year by the Christian Research Report. Bryan's first single, "Traces of Heaven," is at #1 o n CCM's AC chart after only five weeks. He is preparing to go into the studio to record a greatest hits album in Spanish. Guardian Guardian has been readying their new project, _Swing, Swang, Swung_, for a September release, and are preparing to begin filming videos from the new project. They have been nominated for "Favorite Rock Band," "Favorite Rock CD," and "Favorite Long Form Video" by The American Christian Music Awards, and will soon be opening for Steve Taylor on the upcoming "Squinternational Tour." Their first single from _Welcome, Race Fans_ is still #1 on CCM's Rock chart! Greg Long Greg's very first single from his debut album, _Cross My Heart_, a duet with Margaret Becker entitled "How Long," recently hit #1 on both CRR's and CCM's national AC radio charts. Eric Champion "My Life," the current radio single from Eric's highly acclaimed _Vertical Reality_ project, recently went #1 on both CRR's and CCM's national AC radio charts. "Snake," the first single from their _Drowning With Land in Sight_ project, held the number one slot on CCM's national rock chart for 6 weeks, and on the Rock Music Report and Pure Rock Report 's rock charts for 8 weeks. Russ Taff Russ Taff has been out on the road as part of the Gaither Vocal Band. Taff's current project is _We Will Stand...Yesterday and Today_, a collection of his greatest hits that has received much popular and critical acclaim. Strong Hand of Love Myrrh Records recently hosted a special memorial concert in memory of the late singer/songwriter Mark Heard at this year's Cornerstone Festival, which was the site of Heard's final performance before his death in 1992. The tribute concert was held in conjunction with the release of the Strong Hand of Love project, and featured performances by Rich Mullins and members of the Ragamuffin Band, Ashley Cleveland, Randy Stonehill, Phil Madeira and Rick Elias. Brian White and Brian Goodell Begin "Livin' In The Sight Of Water" Tour BRENTWOOD, TN--Broken Records artists Brian White and Justice with special guest Brian Goodell of Essential Records recently kicked off the fall leg of the "Livin" In The Sight Of Water" Tour. More than 50 concert dates are scheduled through December in the Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Florida areas. White, a Dove-award winning songwriter, will be performing material from his debut project Livin' In The Sight of Water. Goodell will be crooning the contemporary pop/R&B sounds of his smash debut release Simple Love.
