This package is an etext of "The Mnemonic Similiad", by Stacy Jones, M.D., published by Boericke and Tafel in 1904. To the best of my knowledge, this work is in the public domain in the U.S. atleast (more than 75 years). This book is about homeopathy a system of medicine started by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann. This etext is provided with NO WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. Read, use etc entirely at your own cost and risk. The original copy came from my father Zulfiquar Moolji, and uncle Sherally Moolji. The original text included italics and small capitals. I have translated the small caps to a bold font. I have used troff/nroff features to describe the fonts and other formatting. Only a few features have been used. Most commands in troff are on a separate line and begin with a period. Other commands are ususally embedded in the text and begin with a backslash (\). A short explanation of the commands is given below. ------------------------------------------------------------ The dot (period) commands: ------------------------- .bp -- new page. .sp -- leave space of lines. .ad -- adjust margin; go back to previous adjustment. .ad r -- adjust right. .ad l -- adjust right. .ad b -- adjust both right and left. Note: troff/nroff adjusts both right and left margins by default. .ce -- center the next line. .nf -- do not fill in blanks (make full lines) from here on. .fi -- start making full lines form here. .IP -- new indented paragraph (ms - macro package). .PP -- new paragraph (ms - macro package). .in 0.5i -- indent, in this case by half an inch. .ti -0.5i -- temporary indent, for the next line only. Note: the two preceding commands are used to get a "hanging paragraph". .in 0 -- unindent, or undo all previous indentations. .tl 'left'center'right' -- for titles and other such formatting. Embedded commands: ----------------- \fR begin standard (Times Roman) printing from hereon \fI begin italics printing from hereon \fB begin bold printing from hereon \fP restore the previous font ------------------------------------------------------------ I hope that no (there must be a few :-)) mistakes have been made in transcription. This etext is provided as is. No warranties of any kind. This etext consists of the following (chapters): Introduction Mnemonic Nomenclature Plan of Letter Indications Materia Medica - Versified Mnemonic Persons and Dual Indications Index of Ailments and Mnemonic Associations Translation Key. I believe this is the first public domain etext made extensively available. Enjoy. Rayaz Jagani Sunnyvale, Dec 22, 1994. Updated Mar 17, 1995
