Due to the tremendous interest we have received regarding the conference and the importance of the anti-Republican Party actions taking place during the month of August (thousands of people will be protesting in San Diego) we are confident that the conference will be of historical significance to our movimiento and our Raza's struggle for self-determination. The objectives of the conference will be the following: ------------------------------------------------------ 1. Provide a forum by which progressive/self-determination oriented organizations (non-government funded) can explain how they see the key or important issues facing nuestra Raza and what are the solutions to these issues. 2. Provide an environment by which organizations can develop a network for future national unified actions. 3. Develop a "general statement" committing all present to actions in defense of nuestro pueblo. Conference will include workshops & keynote speakers Process For Registration ------------------------ Due to limited space and other logistical considerations, we are limiting participation to those organizations who have endorsed the Marcha and the Unity Conference. Also, we are limiting participation to ten representatives per organization. This process will not only ensure that all organizations are represented but also that all participating organizations will have an equal voice in all conference proceedings. Send: Name of Organization: Phone: Address: List of 10 delegates who will participate: Please mail to: NCMC/Conference Registration, P.O. Box 620095, San Diego, CA 92162. Organized by the California Coalition for Women Prisoners, the event will include a speak-out by women's groups, community- based organizations and former prisoners, focusing on the poor medical care and lack of support services for women prisoners at both VSPW and the prison across the street, the Central California Women's Facility. On April 4, 1995, a class action lawsuit was filed by San Francisco-based Legal Services for Prisoners with Children, the ACLU National Prison Project in Washington, D.C. and other law firms targetting the medical neglect and abusive care received by women prisoners with illnesses such as sickle cell anemia, breast and uterine cancer, diabetes, pregnancy complications and HIV/AIDS. The California Coalition is supporting this lawsuit. Today in South Korea, France, Germany, Greece and all over the world the youth is raising his voice. Our nationalities and languages may be different, but our hearts are beating for the true and beautiful. We all love our countries and our peoples. This common shared feeling is expressed in our slogans. As you know the students movement in Turkey has made a great progress. This progress began with the rising of the dues for education, done by the state. This rising means, that if you have no money, you will not be allowed to study. The movement grew, because the government attacked workers, youth, tailers, trade unions, etc. Today more and more people are killed. On the other hand our economy in Turkey is breaking down, poverty is rising extremly. We could not be silent facing in justice and cruelty we had to say STOP! Against injustice dues for education and for a democratic system of universities we organised a student's congress. Students from all over Turkey partizipate in this congress. With this congress we try to reach the aim of an united student organisation. We want to invite you to this congress and would be very glad, if you would come. If you can not partizipate, we would also be glad to recieve a solidarity note. We wish all of you the best. Long live Internationalism! KNOWLEDGE FOR THE PEOPLE! EDUCATION FOR THE PEOPLE!
