Hi there,

You may want to search the papers looking for the title of research analyst.
That is a postion that you would be qualified for and that can be found both
in State/Federal jobs (including universities) as well as in the private
sector.  There are quite a few places that are looking for people like
yourself.  For example in Denver Co. there is a small research company
called OMNI that was started by a sociologist.  But that is one of many.   I
agree with the other post that the ASA is not all that useful for your
desires.
