I agree that Parsons was a little less than concise in his own writing.  
C. Wright Mills does a great job of "translating" Parsons into English. 
It's a little difficult to know how good he was at translating Weber.  
But we don't have to compare the English and German of _The Protestant 
Ethic_ to understand that Weber went a little overboard on the footnotes.
