One of the first questions asked concerns publishing/presenting and one is generally looked at disapprovingly if the answer is "er, um, ah.....well, you see.....blah blah blah." Luckily, I have been able to gain enough experience in both arenas being at a smaller school/department (North Dakota State University). I have a feeling that the same will be true at the US schools when I begin looking there as well this fall.
