Some other sociologists don't like it because it does use a lot of stereotypes, but I have had very few negative reactions from students, and it gets the points across well. In Family classes, I have used "Kramer vs. Kramer". A little outdated, but also gets to issues of male/female roles, etc. Also used "When a Man Loves a Woman" and "Fatal Attraction". The latter has been used in a lot of research, so there is stuff on Lexis/Nexus that refers to it... "Fresh" for drug stuff, along with "Rush" or "Trainspotting". The latter two have gotten very mixed reviews by students, so I use them only in a crunch. PBS names are eluding me right now, but there was a series of videos done specifically for Psychology that has a couple on social psych. Talks about the Zimbardo prison experiment and other things like that. Another documentary is "Seven-Up" which follows kids every 7 years to see how their lives progress. Also "Roger and Me". I'll get back to you if I can remember any of the other tv stuff. -danielle
