Tischler's _Introduction to Sociology_ (5th ed). The text is only $27.95 but is worth more than that for just the foreward. Each chapter includes reviews, study guides, and fantastic practice tests. I found more students tended to actually read this text than others in the past, or so I have heard. Chapters included are: The sociological perspective; doing sociology - research methods; culture; sociolization and development; stratification; social class in the US; marriage and alternative family lifestyles; religion; population and demography; urban society; health and health care; social interaction and social groups; deviant behavior and social control; racial and ethnic minorities; gender and age stratification; education; political and economic systems; collective behavior; and social change. I could send you a copy of my syllabus and class assignments if you would like as well. Just drop me a line (not to the server, we get enough as it is) and I can get that for ya. As was previously mentioned, I (unfortunately) don't have the time to participate much in the current discussions. That does NOT mean that I am implying others are unproductive schlubs (I like that word....) but that I am enjoying things from the peanut gallery perspective. ;) Hope everyone is enjoying the summer. I hear it is really nice outside.... ..... Shelley koski@prairie.nodak.edu
