I'm also doing my Doctorate and tutoring second year courses here, though I suspect our financial arrangements differ somewhat. As a general comment, I'd have to say the teaching can be a distraction at times, but this is more than compensated for by the experience it provides and the periodic feeling that with my students I am swimming in a pool of ideas which might not otherwise be available to me. It is rewarding not only in terms of the progress the students make, but in the very real contribution they make to my own thinking. It would be good to compare notes with you Cheers, Maxine Campbell Dept of Sociology University of Waikato New Zealand email: maxine@waikato.ac.nz At 02:49 PM 7/23/97 +1200, you wrote: >I'm a PhD candidate at Massey University - New Zealand.
