Here at the University of Connecticut, the graduate school (as well as the
Department) requires 24 hours plus 6 in a foreign language or related
skill area in another department (stats, methods, etc.).  We have no
credit hours dedicated to research hours.

There has been talk of upping it or requiring course work for funded students
until ABD but these proposals have been shot down.
