My department is considering revamping its graduate program. A key issue is the number of course work hours required to complete the Ph.D. degree. The graduate students here are very much interested in seeing the number of hours significantly reduced, thus I am trying to dig up a little information on other programs in the U.S. At Texas A&M, a Ph.D. degree in sociology requires. 46 hours of coursework beyond the masters degree 18 hours of directed research beyond the masters degree For a total of 64 hours. Could those of you out there please provide me with this type of information on your degree programs? All the best, Tim Chester
