The journal Gavin mentioned is SOCIAL INDICATORS RESEARCH; you could also search books in the LC classification "social indicators." If I remember correctly, occupational prestige "ratings" were originally based on ranks; there was some work done in the 1989 General Social Survey to update those scores. Check ICPSR study 9593 "Occupational prestige ratings from the 1989 General Social Survey" and associated articles for details. (Pamela--this is codebook 74-R-1989 in the IRSS data library.)
