Criminology:
    The Department of Sociology at Dominican University
(formerly Rosary College) announces an opening for the Fall of 1997
of a non- tenure track position, at the assistant professor level,
with the possibility of eventual conversion to tenure track.
Applicants should demonstrate broad teaching competence in sociology,
but with special emphasis in the areas of criminology and related
fields as well as in research methodology. The candid ate will be
expected to develop and implement a new criminology major within the
existing sociolog y program. Applicants should have a completed Ph.D.
in sociology, with a specialization in criminology or a related
field, teaching experience, and a commitment to undergraduate
education and advising. Minorities are strongly encouraged to apply.
Dominican University, located in the west-suburban Chicago area, is a
comprehensive, liberal arts institution with programs that display a
career focus. It consists of an undergraduate College of Arts and
Sciences, a Graduate School of Library and Information Science, a
School of Business and a School of Education.  The Department of
Sociology, within the College of Arts and Sciences, offers a
sociology major and minor, with specializations in social analysis,
social services, and international development.  It also provides
support, through its course offerings, to programs in gerontology,
and early, elementary and secondary education, as well as to the
general education requirements of the undergraduate curriculum.
Applicants must submit a letter describing their qualifications, a
vita, evaluations of teaching effectiveness, sample course syllabi
or descriptions, and three letters of recommendation to:
