We even took a vote and basically decided that if faculty members wanted to be on this list, there was no way of stopping them, and they can even be helpful given that an important latent function of this list is professional socialization and networking. We even have a faculty member here who has been encouraging new grad. students to sign up for the list. As for potentially "vindictive" faculty members, don't worry. If they don't give you the time of day in your dept., they are unlikely to get excited by this list either. By the way, is there a listserv command which could be used to discover who is on the list? Also, as of yet I have found one non-sociologist of religion at The University of New Mexico who is going to be in Albuquerque from Nov. 3 through Nov. 6. It would be nice if there other socgradders into religion lurking somewhere. If there is, come forward and we might plan something.
