How many people will really be concerned. Even though I am young I remember when baseball players were not(or didn't seem to be so greedy). When you didn't have to pay $40 for an autograph. And when players played for the love of the sport. I have no sympathy for the players who make 8,970 dollars a day.( I believe that is what Barry Bonds makes per game. I have played baseball, and realize that it is easy to injure yourself while playing, but if I were making this much I would play minus some limbs if I thought I could help a team win. So... the baseball players are going to strike. I've heard that the ultimate goal of the baseball player is to acquire that world series ring. Who wants to win the season is tainted by ... the STRIKE. Its amusing that players find it so easy to strike as an organization, but find it so hard to hit pitches that are strikes. The whole sport involves both individual and team efforts. As boys are growing up and attending school, they are taught the value of team work. Work as a team for the value of the whole. It is my opinion that they are working as a team but in the wrong capacity. The owners of baseball teams fork out the money. If they think a salary cap is in order... so be it. This time I happen to agree. So... the baseball players are going to strike. What does this do to the sports fan. The child that supports his or her favorite player. Baseball fans seem to be the most anemic bunch in all of sports. Farewhether fans they are.(Especially in Los Angeles). I've noticed that the baseball fan is the most unloyal at any event. Go to a football game and see how much solidarity there is for a team. Go to a soccer game and perhaps you'll see why soccer is the biggest spectator sport in the world. I believe the commraderie that exists between the fans at any sport(barring baseball). Makes going to these events more fun. It takes your mind off your troubles for 3 hours at least, and gives one a chance to unwind and have fun. The baseball owners have my full support on this one. The players can strike till the cows come home. from a non-disgruntled baseball fan. greg.
