Well, let's just say I know my voice has been heard.  Thanks to all who confirm
ed that my message had been posted.  Although it was a bit time-consuming to re
ad all the messages, it was rather exciting to get messages from coast to coast

My department (American University) is re-evaluating the statistsics requiremen
t for PhD students.  We, grad students and faculty alike would like to get an i
dea of how other schools are addressing this issue.  If you have a minute, plea

1. What is your dept's statistics requirement (if you have one at all)
2. Can the requirement be met by coursework or a "tool" examination?
   By a combination? If you do take courses, how many do you take and what grad
e is considered acceptable?
